BE FORWARD Responds to Malawi Flood Disaster

MOZAMBIQUE-FLOODS-WEATHER

The week of January 11th, 2015 brought unprecedented rains to vast swaths of the African continent’s southern region. Among the hardest hit countries in the region was the landlocked nation of Malawi, where 178 people lost their lives and over 200,000 were displaced from their homes.

BE FORWARD would like to send its deepest sympathies and condolences to all victims and families of the devastating floods. As part of our continuing commitment to the people of Malawi, BE FORWARD General Manager Takahiro Suemori met with Malawi Ambassador to Japan, Reuben Ngwenya H.E. at the Malawi Embassy in Tokyo to present a donation of ¥300,000 (approximately $3,000 USD) to the nation’s recovery effort.

As there is still much cleanup and repair to be done, BE FORWARD encourages those who are able to do so, to direct donations to the International Federation of the Red Cross’s effort to provide relief to Malawi people. Information for donations can be found at: http://www.ifrc.org/en/get-involved/donate/
