Using this information, the ECU continuously adjusts fuel injection, ignition timing, idle speed, variable valve timing, and, on many vehicles, turbocharger boost pressure. Modern ECUs also communicate with other control modules, such as the transmission, anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control, and body control module (BCM), ensuring these systems work together seamlessly. ECU vs ECM: Is There a Difference?

1. Check Engine Light That Won’t Resolve

If the light immediately returns despite replacing the suspected faulty component, the ECU may not be processing sensor inputs correctly or may be storing incorrect fault information.
