Interior & Exterior Comparison
In 1999, this was the first SUV from a Bavarian car-maker the BMW X5 first made its appearance. From the 2nd generation to the present, BMW X5 received much upgrading and improvements including an all-wheel-drive system that was combined with an automatic transmission. From 2013 to 2018, the 3rd generation appeared with major improvements, upgrades, and incorporation of the advanced and latest technology features. It is now in its 4th generation.

The BMW X5 is a 5-seater, 5-door luxury SUV that is spacious with adequate headroom and legroom to accommodate 5 tall adults comfortably. Inside the X5, you will enjoy a number of advanced features suitable for its status. The front seats can be fitted in 10-way adjustable while the driver’s seat has features like lumbar support, heated seats, and leather.
Other features found inside X5 include a navigation system, front and rear cupholders, a built-in system monitor, a smart device integration system, power control for the tailgate, and all-power windows.

The X5 offers a greater cargo space of 1,076L and is found behind the second-row seats. When you open the power tailgate of the Mercedes-Benz GLE, you are met with a 943L cargo space with a flat load floor. The boot expands up to 2120L of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down.
The latest Mercedes-Benz GLE has borrowed a few cues from its ancestor the M-Class which was a hit when it came out. The wrap-around rear window glass is an obvious design cue, and the stylish C-pillar behind the tailgate so is the big Mercedes emblem attached to the grille.
The grille differs in appearance and packages with stylish daytime LED running lights and LED headlights while the back features a small 3-star emblem, dual exhaust pipes, and narrow taillights that extend to the tailgate.

The latest X5 is powered by numerous engine options such as B48 2.0L turbo I4, B58 3.0L turbo I6, B58 3.0L turbo PHEV I6, N63 4.4L twin-turbo V8, S63 4.4L twin-turbo V8 petrol engines, B47 2.0L turbo I4, B57 3.0L turbo I6, and B57 3.0L quad-turbo I6 diesel engines. These engines are attached to an 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic.
Both BMW X5 M and X5 M Competition are fitted with a 4.4L S63 twin-turbo V8. The X5 M produces a maximum power output of 600 hp and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds while the X5 M Competition generates a maximum power output of 617 hp and accelerates to 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.8 seconds.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has both diesel and petrol engines under the bonnet, here we will take a look at 2 of them.
The 2020 GLE is powered by a turbocharged I6 petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system as standard. The 3.0L turbocharged 6-cylinder petrol engine generates 362 hp, with an extra 21 hp generated by the 48V mild-hybrid system. The fuel consumption for this hybrid combination is around 11 km/l, and reaches 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 257 km/h. The car is linked to Mercedes-Benz‘s 4Matic constant all-wheel-drive via a 9-speed automatic.
Another engine fitted under the bonnet of GLE is a turbocharged I4 diesel engine.
The 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine generates 241 hp, with average fuel consumption of 14 km/l, and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.2 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/h. This model is attached to a Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic constant all-wheel-drive via a 9-speed automatic, the same as the petrol engine above.
