With a curb weight of about 2.3 kilograms, the Jeep Wrangler’s GVM can be rated at about 2.5 kilograms which enables it to tow up to a maximum of 2.5 kilograms. To arrive at the correct towing capacity you have to subtract the curb weight from the GVM. For safety reasons, it is advisable to always make sure you do not come within 10% of the total towing capacity.
The Wrangler’s standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol with 268 horsepower with its plug-in hybrid version offering 375 horsepower. A 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower is available. These engines are paired with either an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. The average fuel consumption of these engines is 9 km/L, 28 km/L, and 10 km/L respectively.
The last time (2018) Euro NCAP tested the Wrangler it gave it a meager score for safety, especially in adult passenger, child occupants, and pedestrian safety. The score was also influenced by the vehicle’s limited driver assistance technology and impact protection. Available passive and active safety features were four airbags, blind-spot monitoring, and front collision warning.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport and Rubicon come with similar engine (2.0 or 3.6-liter) options, then one might wonder ‘Why is the Rubicon more expensive then?’. Let’s take a brief look at some of the systems that set the two apart:
They both feature similar powerplants with the same power, towing capacity, fuel consumption, and 4×4 drivetrains, but the Rubicon adds heavy-duty axles, electronic locking differential, disconnecting sway bars, rock rails, rear parking sensors, 4:1 Rock-Trac Heavy-Duty Full-Time 4WD System, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and blind spot monitor.

The G Wagon has been around for a while and one thing that Mercedes has maintained is its tall upright styling, old door latches, and iconic boxy exterior.
In 2019 the second-generation model was released with its length and width growing by 53 and 121 mm, and a curb weight of about 2.4 kilograms. Exterior features include a vertical grille with the three-star logo, LED headlights, indicators atop the front wings, integrated brush guard and reflectors, iconic door handles, and a spare wheel on the tailgate. 20-inch alloy wheels are standard with 22-inch rims available on AMG G63.
The latest G Wagons interior is spacious with better legroom than its predecessor and plenty of headroom. Its high seating position allows the driver to have great exterior visibility. The power-adjustable seats are comfortable with AMG leather upholstery and wood finishing providing a touch of class. Interior features include a pair of 12.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment, three-zone climate control, and eight-color ambient lighting. Storage options include a pair of front removable cup holders and another two at the rear, front seat jacket pockets, an overhead sunglasses holder, and door bottle holders. Its cargo capacity at 667 liters is great, only that the second-row seat does not fold flat.
As a true definition of German engineering, this military vehicle turned civilian SUV ended up being a scarce and sought-after top-tier luxury SUV with an almost cult following from the three-pointed star family. Mercedes-Benz is a brand that is synonymous with luxury, reliability, quality, performance, safety, and state-of-the-art technology. The G wagon being from the Mercedes family commands the same qualities but adds tested offroad capabilities and outstanding driving performance that all together justify its price tag.
If you’re interested in the Jeep Wrangler or Mercedes-Benz G Class, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class is definitely worth considering. Check out the features from the following blog.
The G Wagon is powered by a standard twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine with 416 horsepower with a turbocharged 2.9-liter inline-6 diesel engine with 282 horsepower available. A 9-speed automatic 9G-Tronic transmission with torque-converter is standard. The fuel consumption rating of these engines is 7.5 km/L and 13 km/L respectively.
The Jeep Wrangler and the Mercedes G Wagon are two revered SUVs with great offroading capabilities, plenty of amenities, and high-end features. The asking price and cost of ownership of the Wrangler is way below that of the G wagon which is one of the highest in the SUV class. Depending on how deep your pocket is each one of these vehicles has its pros and cons, with the Wrangler falling short on safety and luxurious features, but with efficient engines, while the G wagon has better cargo capacity, more powerful engines, and space. Since these are both great cars, whichever one you choose will be a great choice.
