The Toyota Wish is a compact Multi-Purpose-Vehicle (MPV) that was in production for two generations from 2003 to 2009 and 2009 – 2017. The first generation is identified by the AE10 code which was produced from 2003 to 2009 and the second generation known as the AE20 was produced from 2009 to 2017. Production of the Wish ceased in 2017 due to competing priorities within Toyota and it was replaced by the Prius V and Sienta.

On the inside, the Toyota Wish can be defined as simple but functional with a simple layout and controls that are easily accessible to the driver. The space for the first row and second row is enough but on the third row, the space is tight especially for a long journey and is only suitable for children.

There are several storage sections in the cabin; at first, there are 3 cup holders, a glove box, a center storage tray, and door pockets. On the second row, there is storage on the front seat jacket pockets. On the third row, there are 2 storage sections on the sides.

The Toyota Estima is a large and full MPV that is manufactured and sold predominantly in the Japanese market. It’s sold as the Toyota Tarago in the Australian market and Toyota Previa in Asian markets. It’s the second-largest MPV in the Toyota lineup after the Toyota Vellfire and the Toyota Alphard. Directly below it is the Toyota Voxy and the Toyota Noah.

The Toyota Estima has got a first-class cabin that is roomy, comfortable, and well-insulated from road noise allowing for normal conversations at higher speeds. The space is excellent on all 3 rows and comfortably accommodates tall people. Higher grades come with comfortable seats that have leg support (ottoman) and can lie flat.

There are several storage sections in the cabin that are fit for storing items such as smartphones, beverages, goggles, handbags, etc. In the first row, there are door panel storage, 4 cup-holders, and a glovebox. In the second row, there are 2 cupholders. In the third row, there is storage on the side pockets and 4 cupholders.

The Wish is powered by two engine options. The 3ZR-FAE 2.0 litre petrol and the 2ZR-FAE 1.8 litre petrol mated to a 7 Speed CVT transmission and available in 2WD or 4WD.
The Toyota Wish is equipped with a 3ZR-FAE I4 2.0 litre petrol engine that produces (114kW), and the Toyota Wish powered by a 2ZR-FAE 1.8 litre petrol engine that produces 105kW.

(a) Engine & Performance

The Toyota Estima comes with 2 engine options; which are the 2AZ-FE 2.4 litre petrol engine and the 2GR-FE 3.5 litre petrol engine, available in both hybrid and normal versions. These engines are mated to either a 6-speed automatic, a 7-speed Super CVT-I, or a CVT automatic and are available in 2WD or 4WD.

The Toyota Estima hybrid version is powered by the 2.4 litre petrol engine that produces a 112 kW (150 bhp).

The Toyota Estima powered by 2AZ-FE 2.4 litre petrol engine produces 115 kW (154 bhp) while Toyota Estima with a 3.5 litre petrol V6 engine produces a 235 kW (315 hp).

(b) Fuel Consumption

The Toyota Estima’s fuel consumption is approximately 11.6 km/L for the Estima powered by a 2.4 litre engine. The Toyota Estima hybrid version powered by 2.4 litre petrol engine has a fuel consumption of 18.0km/L while the Toyota Estima with the 3.5 litre petrol engine has a fuel consumption of approximately 9.7km/L

The Toyota Wish and Toyota Estima are like siblings, but differ in specifications. They both seem to be better for long trips and family use, but if you need full luxury, comfortability and performance better choose the  Toyota Estima.
