The Toyota Ractis is a 5door hatchback that was introduced to the market in 2005 by the famous Japanese Automobile Maker Toyota. Locally, it competes with Toyota Raum, Toyota IST, Nissan Note, and Honda Fit. The Ractis has proven to be a big hit in the Tanzanian market because of its space, excellent fuel consumption, and affordable maintenance. It can be used to carry luggage and/or passengers depending on the need, thanks to its high roof and flat fold seats.

The first generation of Toyota Ractis NCP100 was manufactured from 2005 to 2010 and the second-generation NCP120 was manufactured from 2010 to 2016. The 2010 Model of Toyota Ractis is available with 2 engine options: the 1.3L 2SZ engine (1NR for late 2010), and the 1.5L 1NZ engine, equipped with either a 7-speed CVT or 6-speed manual transmission. Toyota Ractis comes with 4-wheel drive options and a 1.5 L engine in the NCP105 for the first generation and NCP125 for the second generation.

The 2010 model of Toyota Ractis comes in 3 grades: Toyota Ractis G, Toyota Ractis X, and Toyota Ractis S. Below are the specifications for these grades.

Toyota Ractis Grades

  1. Toyota Ractis G comes with steel rims, a 1.5 L engine, and 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.
  2. Toyota Ractis X is the base model that comes with a 1.3 L engine, 2-wheel drive, and steel rims.
  3. Toyota Ractis S is the luxury model that comes with a 1490cc (1.5L) engine, 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive, fog lights, alloy rims, sunroof (optional), and upgraded interior trim.

Space & Legroom

The Toyota Ractis is a spacious hatchback thanks to its high roof. The elevated seats ensure a natural seating position and an excellent view of the road. The Ractis can comfortably accommodate a maximum of 5 adults. The rear middle seat comes with enough space which makes it far better than most hatchbacks we have seen.

Cabin Storage

The Toyota Ractis has a big cabin storage compartments that are useful for storing items such as beverages, smartphones, handbags, etc. The first row comes with a door panel storage, four cups/bottles holders for some variants, storage space below the dashboard, a glovebox, and the center-box for some variants while the second row comes with storage on the door pockets.

Toyota Ractis Boot Space

It is probably the largest boot we have seen on hatchbacks. With 429 liters of boot space, the Toyota Ractis scores highly in this category. When extra space is needed, you can fold the rear seats flat to create a large boot. In this configuration, the Ractis is changed into a minivan therefore, it’s very easy to see why the Ractis has become so popular with business people.

Exterior

Ractis is well designed and stylish unlike its predecessor, the Funcargo, that was considered to be shapeless. The narrow grille and sharp headlights give it a sport and streamlined look. For a better look and performance, we recommend upgrading from steel rims to alloy rims.

Toyota Ractis Fuel Consumption

With a fuel tank capacity of 42 liters, Toyota Ractis with a 1.3L engine consumes 18.2km/L on average while the consumption of Toyota Ractis with a 1.5L engine is expected to be 15.2Km/L average.

Toyota Ractis Acceleration

It takes 12.5 seconds and 11.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-100km/h for the 1.3L and the 1.5L engines respectively.

Price ranges from $2,027 to $11,650 on the used car market depending on trim, the installed features, engine size, model year, mileage, and other conditions of the car. The better the car is, the higher the price therefore, you can rely on these factors to buy a Toyota Ractis suitable for your needs and budget.
